Welcome!!!

Who out there is named "Mormon"? Very few--it would be "cruel and unusual punishment" (see US 8th Amendment) if parents were to name their child by that name. Just think of all of the schoolyard nicknames that would bound to torment their child. Such names would be "Moron", "Norman". "Golden boy", "boy who holds a trumpet", etc etc etc. Not even "Mormons" are really called "Mormon". In all technicality, they are "LDS". Don't get too excited parents. You're child cannot be named "LDS" either. You DO NOT want your child to be called "Lids" for the rest of his life, do you? Didn't think so.

Anyways, after some light humor, I have decided to announce my new blog which will act as the "mothership" for the global LDS community. This idea came to me while thinking about a certain Comms class that I took part in at BYU. The professor told the class that the Deseret News, which in all realism would be a local news source, is indeed a national/global news source as many of our scattered members tend to check back in with us--like aliens with a mothership.

So this is how things will roll. I'll usually give my opinions (not endorsed by the LDS church), facts (may or may not be affiliated with the LDS church), and links to whatever may be on my mind concerning newsworthy events within the mothership.

Salt Lake City: "Meet a Foster Parent" http://www.deseretnews.com/photo/gallery/story/705392930/Photos-Pumpkin-painting-serves-2-purposes.html --Like any country, America has its problems. If you were to ask me what I thought America's biggest problem was I would not say our over-enthusiastic gun-ho personality when it comes to war. No, I would say foster care is our biggest problem. Note: this opinion is entirely bias-related. Foster care is detrimental to a child's health. It is unstable and often allows a child to enter into certain abusive situations. Despite this, it is often a child's last resource as their families were unfit to provide for them. To all of you who have a big enough heart, a flexible life, some extra money, time for giving, etc, I plead with you to donate time or money to the cause of Foster Care or Adoption. By donating to Foster Care facilities, you can make a difference in a child's life. Although I have nothing against state-ran foster care, I believe that it'd be better to donate to private organizations such as the following: LDS Services (https://www.itsaboutlove.org/ial/ct/eng/site/adopting-families/); ASPIRA (http://www.aspiranet.org/program-services/foster-care/); Blue Sky Fostering =UK (http://www.blueskyfostering.com/) ---side note: ASPIRA, Fresno location, was the agency that gave me to my forever family and for that I am thankful.

BYU Football: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700190591/BYU-football-Cougars-cruise-past-Bengals-TCU-up-next.html BYU vs Idaho State 10/22/11 56:3 baby!!! Cougars For The Win!!!

Lego Temple: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705392922/A-testimony-and-a-Mormon-temple-built-on-building-blocks.html This is flipin' fetchin' Genuis! Will Monson be dedicating this? :D jk

Come on! Every day we see violence on the news. Mexico. Iraq. Afghanistan. And just about everywhere there is an American present, right? So this has to be like the most violent time ever, right? WRONG! Statistics say were more at peace right now than ever before! Yay! Ok, enough of my sarcasticness. Heres the link: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700190472/Bombings-beheadings-Despite-headlines-stats-show-a-peaceful-world.html

Religion and Football can coexist, I declare! http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700189940/Religion-expert-sees-Cougars-at-a-crossroads.html Why the heck not?! Does reserving the sabbath, not supporting alcohol, and keeping players in line and under authority really a big deal? No. The players signed a contract and most of them knew what they were getting into since the day they first found out about the school (so about age 0-18 depending). I say, to anyone who doubts that it is a good thing too combine the two, "Bring it on! Watch what we can do!" To anyone who says that BYU would be pushing the LDS religion onto everyone else, "Wimps! Prove to us that you can play just as well on a Saturday as a Sunday. You can practice every weekday and we'll just skip Sunday. We can still represent!"

Call too all youth!!! Do your geneology!!! http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/61571/New-youth-family-history-website.html It is important! Your ancestors call to you to save them, to remember them, and/or live up to them!!!
